Book Signings This Month!

It’s been quite awhile, but after attending two amazing writing conferences, “Breathe” and “Stop Whining, Start Writing,” I’m BA-ACK!

Beginning with baby steps, I’d like to announce two book signing events I will be a part of this month.

On Friday, November 7th, I will be in Muskegan’s Barnes and Noble, with my good friend and fellow author (of the amazing book, “Smiling Again.”) Sally Stap.

After Thanksgiving, we will both be participating in the 7th Annual Ludington Arts Center Craft Fair, to be held indoors on Saturday November 28th, at the Center, 107 S. Harrison St.

It would be such an encouragement to see some friendly, familiar faces!

Thanks for visiting!

21405933I feel good, real good about Friday night’s Art Hop! I may have only sold 5 books but we gave out lots of free donuts and information. I expect our next KAHTC meeting to have many new faces. In case you haven’t heard, they are held the 4th Monday of every month. (Sorry to everyone I told they were the last Monday of every month! OOPS! Please don’t come the last Monday of December!!!!!)

The sweetest moment was when a young person, after listening to my story and why I wrote my book said, “May I shake your hand? It’s an honor to meet you.” I told them I was the one who was honored!

The most disappointing? When a woman who shared she knew about abuse, picked up my book, turned it around to read the back cover, then dropped it like she’d been burned, and said “You lost me with that Christian stuff.”  I told her I was glad she saw that before she bought it only to discover it later and be disappointed. Then I told her about our meetings(I think I had the right info by then.) I said it wasn’t a Christian organization and we could use all the help we could get. I hope I see her there.

I’m so thankful to Tom who “carried my books” up 4 flights of stairs before we knew there was an elevator! I was thrilled to see some people for the first time in years! It was a wonderful experience and I look forward to helping again in December.

Nov. 7 Book Signing For Art Hop!

Tonight at the Park Trades Center on Kalamazoo Ave., I will be signing my book “But I Liked It…and Other Lies” as a fund raiser for KAHTC (Kalamazoo Anti-Human Trafficking Coalition). I hope to see many friendly faces and supporters! The good news is that I’m finally ” in the black” so  ALL proceeds will go to this amazing cause.

We will be there from 5:00-9:00 PM. You will have to look for us because I’m not sure where we will be.

A Glimpse Of My New Book!

Hello everyone!

Tonight is my Christian writer’s group and I have a short story to submit. It’s about my friend Terry, a man who couldn’t speak, spell, or move, yet we would have a ball playing Hangman. The only thing he could move were his eyes, so that was how he communicated. When he looked up it meant “Yes”, looking down meant “No”. The only thing is, I have to change his name because his family would never give me permission to use it in a book. (He still has a son living, with the same name.) So I looked up Irish male names and came up with Barry O’ Darby. I Googled it and there’s no such name. O’ Darby isn’t even a real last name! (I checked to make sure).
This story will be a chapter in my new book, titled by Terry himself,  “Knock, Knock. I’m Here”. We had hoped to write this, his story, together, but he passed away before we even got a good start. Because I can’t use real names or places, it will be a fiction based on a true story. All my memories of our friendship will be my inspiration.

This was taken the 1 year I was a blond. It's of me w/ my quadriplegic friend, Terry

Stay tuned for more sneak peeks!

My encouraging word for today is from Proverbs 17:22, “A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.”

10 Winners Chosen!

The ten winners chosen by Goodreads for my book “But I LIKED It…and Other Lies”, were from all over the U.S.A. and Canada! I even had a winner in Nova Scotia! I sent them each a book with a letter saying I would love to hear from them. I sincerely hope they contact me and let me know what they think of my book. Goodreads told me over 600 signed up for the chance to win. Hopefully I am now on their wish lists! I am almost to the point where all profits can go to KAHTC! There is another book signing coming up on Nov. 7 at Art Hop, the Park Trades Center, which is specifically for raising awareness of KAHTC and how they are working to end all human trafficking. In case anyone isn’t familiar with KAHTC, it stands for Kalamazoo Anti-Human Trafficking Coalition. They meet the last Monday of every month at The Bridge off Angling Rd. We would LOVE to see you there. Together we CAN make a difference!

My Very First Book Signing!

My first ever book signing will be October 18th, 2014 at the Family Christian Book Store on the corner of Westnedge and Kilgore! The time will probably be 1:00 to 3:00. I’m going to invite everyone I know and ask them to bring a friend or two! There will be 2 other Christian authors there with me with their amazing books. I couldn’t be more excited if I tried! I hope to see many friends and family supporting me, sharing with others how they feel about “But I Liked It,,,and Other Lies”.But-I-Liked-it-full-cover-4-16-14It would be a great opportunity for anyone who doesn’t have one yet to get a personally signed copy! It’s my sincere hope that this will be just the beginning. I am also prepared to speak anywhere I’m invited. (Hint, hint)!

Christian Writer’s Conference, “Breathe.”

I just signed up for my first writer’s conference! Today was the last day to get the early bird price of 115.00. It takes place in Grand Rapids MI. on the 10th and 11th of October. I also booked my hotel room which I hope to share with hubby Tom (if he can take the time off!) I’m sure he will be able to find things to do while I’m off taking classes. I’ve never done anything like this before and I’m quite proud of myself for not bowing down to my fear of unknown things. I look forward to all I will learn and every writer I will meet.

I’m happy with the sales of my book, “But I LIKED It…and Other Lies” and look forward to the unknown (as yet) day, I will have my first book signing. I believe that day will come and am content to leave it all in God’s time and hands.

I found a verse in Psalms 34:5 which sums up my outcome. “They looked to Him and were radiant, their faces shall never blush for shame or be confused.” AMP. I’ve been writing the reference under my name when I sign my books. I hope it encourages others as it has me.
