Delight in the Lord!

Many have probably heard of Psalm 37:4, “Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your hearts desire” HCSB (Holman Christian Standard Bible) Before I knew better, I used to think it was saying that as long as I took delight in God, He would give me whatever I wanted! Years later He showed me what it really meant, when He actually changed the things I wanted into the things He wanted for me. As I truly delighted in Him, His presence and His Word, I slowly realized that the very things I used to desire were now changing. I was being transformed from me, myself and I want; to what does He want me to want! I want His will to be done in my life above any material thing I used to desire. He actually changed the things my heart desired so He could bless me by giving them to me as now they are the same things He desires for me! His ways are so amazing and wonderful! Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give your heart the “what” it desires! Get it?

But then I learned even more good news in verses 5 and 6 of the same Psalm. 5.”Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act, 6. making your righteousness shine like the dawn, your justice like the noonday.” It was years before I even noticed them, but , oh how they thrill me now!  For since I have committed my ways to God and put all my trust in Him, He has made me shine with righteousness, where there used to be nothing but guilt and shame.  I feel vindicated by His holy justice, and that it is as visible as the noonday! And then there is my name, Roxanne. Its meaning IS dawn! “…shine like the dawn.” This is my verse! (But I’ll happily share it with you!) His justice is now mine and it shows, as clear as anything does at noon.

Hope this encouraging scribble for today will bless you, Roxanne
